The Boat

We are chartering a J/109 yacht from Five Star Sailing at Warsash on the River Hamble. A J/109 is a 35 feet long sloop designed for racing and cruising and has a large asymmetric spinnaker, set from a bowsprit, which makes for exciting sailing downwind. Someone at the 2004 London Boat Show was extolling its virtues (grinning from ear to ear), recalling doing 18 knots on the way back from the rock in the 2003 Fastnet.
